Three Holiday Messes: SOLVED!

This is not a drill. The holiday season is almost here. Your oven will get used more, things will spill on your carpet and you will ask, “Where are the scissors?!” at least 10 times.

Wine on the Carpet

Know how to blot. You want to start on the outside and work your way to the inside of the stain. Do not rub the stain into the carpet. Next, you’ll want to add some cold water to your cloth and continue to blot. Still not coming up? Mix baking soda and water with a 3-to-1 ratio. Apply the mixture directly to the stain, and wait for it to dry. Vacuum the dried mixture, and your stain should be gone!

Oven Disaster

Mix one parts water, baking soda and vinegar in an oven-safe bowl or baking dish until it jas a paste-like consistency. With a clean sponge or rag, dab the mixture over the worst parts of the oven. Place the remaining mixture in the oven for 45 minutes at 100 degrees.
Put the remaining mixture (still in the bowl) in the oven for 45 minutes at the lowest temperature (on some ovens, this is the “warm” setting). When time is up, use a sponge to clean your oven as you normally would. Watch the mess disappear easily!

Gift Wrapping Organization

Use a five-gallon bucket and bucket organizer (both available from hardware stores).  The paper rolls stand in the bucket; the ribbon spools can be threaded onto the bucket's handle; scissors, tape, tags, folder tissue paper, and other tools can be stored in the pockets of the bucket organizer.
